The lack of awareness around how we eat has had a profound impact on both our physical and emotional health. Digestion begins in the mouth. Without being mindful or present when eating, we tend to chew less and our stomachs become overloaded, leading to digestive distress. IBS, bloating, malabsorption, poor metabolism and obesity have become common health issues as a result.
On an emotional level, relief from stress, boredom and unhappiness can lead to mindless eating and the tendency to eat for comfort or entertainment rather than for fuel.
